Akogwu Barack Obekpa popularly known as AKAYBEE (AKB) or ‘certified fresh’ was born in the middle belt of Nigeria, Benue state on the 27th of July 1989. He got inspired to become a singer  in secondary school when he joined the Mount Saint Gabriel’s Secondary Schools’ choir in Makurdi, His strong passion for music grew after he met the famous Nigerian Music Icon 2face Idibia in his home town, Otupko .

Akaybee has ventured into the “Trey-Chris- Ne-yoic” genre of music which is RnB, and has added a little of the Nigerian flavour
His inspiration and love for music could be credited to his mentor 2face Idibia and also the environment he resides him which drives him to work harder and push further.

Akaybee enjoys playing basketball, hanging out, swimming and also producing in his spare time. Akaybee is a talented individual; he not only does vocals, but also plays the keyboards, piano and the drums as well.  Even more amazingly, he is self taught a true born talent. His first single, "Ur Soulja" was placed as fourth on Cool fm Abuja chat. Akaybee has done countless number of songs and collaborations with the likes of Jesse Jagz, Double Dee, T klex, Jay AuGg, Tycoon and loads of others.

Akaybee has rounded up his first degree in the American University of Nigeria Yola, Adamawa state. He plans on pushing his music career to the next level. His idea of creating a mark in the Nigerian music industry is by creating distinctive songs with great melody.
